Academic Advising

Welcome to the fall 2020 semester!  Read below for important information

HDFS Student Services Center

The HDFS Student Services Center is available to any undergraduate student who is interested in the field of Human Development and Family Sciences. Whether you’re an HDFS major, minor, or just want to learn more, we can help you with almost anything related to the field! If you’d like to explore an HDFS major or minor, select courses, plan your graduation goals, build your schedule, understand university policies, or have any other academic concern, come meet with us!

We will be working remotely this semester

All appointments will be via WebEX (video) or phone. You will select which platform you'd like to use when you schedule your appointment. The link to the video platform is in nexus and you can join the meeting at the time of your scheduled appointment. If you're making a phone appointment, please leave your number, and an advisor will call you at the time of the appointment.

The best way to reach an advisor is to schedule an appointment on nexus.uconn.edu. You can meet with any available HDFS advisor: Kristin, Abbey, or Ellen. When you sign into nexus, please "Search by Department" and look under Storrs for the "HDFS Student Services Center (Advising)".

We are receiving a very high volume of emails and are doing our best to respond as soon as possible. Please expect 48-72 hours for an email response.

Add/drop/swap period goes through Monday, September 14th

Please pay attention to the modality of your course (online, distance learning, hybrid, etc.). See https://registrar.uconn.edu/ for more information about each.

Your health: Your health is the most important thing. Health includes physical AND psychological/mental health. If you are feeling like you need additional support for your mental health, you are always welcome to call UConn's Student Health and Wellness office to speak to a counselor at any point. We know this time can be very difficult, and we want to do all that we can to support you and all our students. You can find any information you might need on counseling.uconn.edu.
