Rohner has written 17 books and special issues, and over 600 articles, chapters, reviews, and technical reports while conducting research on interpersonal acceptance and rejection for more than 6 decades (starting in 1958). One of his articles, Introduction to Interpersonal Acceptance-Rejection Theory, has been downloaded over 31,000 times.

He is the author of interpersonal acceptance-rejection theory (IPARTheory), and has created a variety of measurement procedures for the cross-cultural study of interpersonal acceptance-rejection. Among these are behavior observation procedures, interview protocols, ethnographic field techniques, and 35 self-report questionnaires. Some of the self-report questionnaires are available in up to 78 languages and dialects internationally.
