Ryan Watson receives InCHIP Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award
Assistant Professor Ryan Watson is recipient of InCHIP’s first ever InCHIP Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award!
This award recognizes a pre-tenured InCHIP-affiliated faculty member who has made significant scientific contributions in their area of research in a health-related domain consistent with the mission of InCHIP. Research excellence is defined as “work that reflects a high degree of scientific contribution in terms of its substance, quality, originality, and impact.”
HDFS student wins Aetna Writing in the Disciplines Award
HDFS student Anneliese Lapides won the Aetna Writing in the Disciplines Award for a paper she wrote in Professor Keith Bellizzi’s HDFS 2004W course. The paper “Prenatal Health Care Inequities and Adverse Birth Outcomes for African American Women,” was one of two co-winners in the social sciences. Congratulations Anneliese!
HDFS student writes op ed piece on early childhood education
Rachel Ho, HDFS major in the Early Childhood program, recently published a letter to the editor that appeared in the Willimantic Chronicle. She wrote the letter as part of her advocacy project in HDFS 3127. The article was also picked up by the CT Mirror as one of their choices for the CT Viewpoints column.
Abdul Khaleque wins book award
Congratulations to Abdul Khaleque, HDFS adjunct professor and senior scientist in the Ronald and Nancy Rohner Center for the Study of Interpersonal Acceptance and Rejection. Abdul’s book, Intimate Relationships Across the Lifespan: Formation, Development, Enrichment, and Maintenance, by Abdul Khaleque, won silver in Psychology/Mental Health and bronze in Sexuality/Relationships from the 2019 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY).
