Major Advisor: Ryan Watson

Research Interests:

Rathus has expertise in the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority (SGM) youth. Her previous research has focused on better understanding sexual orientation and gender identity based disparities among subgroups of SGM youth, particularly psychological and public health outcomes such as HIV. Rathus’ dual degree master’s-level work in psychology—which includes a Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services—has centered on marginalized groups of individuals. She remains focused on protective factors and systems level changes that will support safer environments and positive development of SGM youth and inspired to investigate research questions that can inform institutional and communal interventions for improving the healthful development of SGM individuals.
